I watched Ordinary People on the weekend, the film directed by Robert Redford and released in 1980, based on Judith Guest’s wonderful novel. The film tells a story about two different ways of approaching the pain life brings to all of us.

We're not in Kansas anymore

But at the cinema a few weeks back, I was taken away by a story, struck by a young girl’s trust that things would be all right and then shocked by my own mistrust. We’re not in Kansas anymore, and we’re certainly not in Oz, and it made me sad.
